Broadmead Village was built in 1993 as an open-air, west coast concept shopping centre to provide the community with a central gathering place along with a variety of amenities.
Homes have been constructed between mature trees and rocky outcrops, and over 20% of the community is public green space.
Neighbourhood amenities include Elk/Beaver Lake Park - a popular location for watersports year-round, and the Saanich Commonwealth Place, built in time for the 1994 Commonwealth Games and a prominent facility in the community and provides health and rehabilitation services, a gymnasium, indoor swimming, and fitness schedules.
